Tomoni Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 19, 2026

In short

Data we don't collect

Tomoni is made by Nanologics. You don't need an account to use Tomoni. The app has no ads, analytics, crash-reporting tools or third-party SDKs, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites. We don't operate any server that receives user data, so we don't sell, rent or share your personal information — we never have it in the first place.

Where your data is stored

Tomoni stores only what you enter: space and member names, dates (anniversaries, birthdays, countdowns), memory text and photos, moods, hearts, your answers to daily questions, and app settings. This data lives on your iPhone and, when iCloud sync is on, in your own iCloud private database. We have no servers and cannot see or access any of it.

iCloud sync

Tomoni uses Apple's CloudKit to sync between your devices. Your data is stored in your own iCloud account and never passes through us. Names, titles, memory text, moods and answers are stored with end-to-end encryption in iCloud. You can turn sync off in Tomoni under Settings › iCloud Sync; your data stays on this iPhone and is not deleted. You can also manage the space Tomoni uses in the iOS Settings app under Apple Account › iCloud.

Sharing

When you invite someone to a space, Tomoni uses CloudKit sharing: the space's data is stored in the creator's iCloud, and only the people you invite and who accept can see it (up to 6 per space). Members can see the dates, memories and photos, moods, hearts and revealed daily answers in that space. "Just me" spaces are never shared. Everyone needs Tomoni on their own iPhone, signed in to iCloud. The creator can stop sharing at any time from the Space tab, and members can leave on their own. Leaving never notifies anyone, and you can choose to keep a private archive only you can see.

Permissions

Tomoni only asks for access when a feature needs it. Saying no won't affect anything else, and you can change your mind any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Photos (system photo picker)
When you add a memory, an avatar or a widget photo, Tomoni uses the system photo picker and only receives the photos you choose. It does not ask for access to your whole library.
Notifications
Reminders for 100-day marks, anniversaries, birthdays and other dates. They're scheduled on your iPhone, with no server involved. Everything else works if you say no.
Face ID
Unlocks Tomoni when you've locked it, and your private archives. iOS handles the check; Tomoni never receives face data.

Other details

Photos

Tomoni keeps a copy resized to 2048 pixels on the long edge plus a small thumbnail, with location and other metadata removed. Your originals stay in the Photos app. With sync or sharing on, these copies are also stored in the matching iCloud.

Widgets, Live Activities and Controls

Widgets read a small summary (day count, date titles, thumbnails) that the app prepares on your iPhone in its App Group container. It never leaves the device.

Optional AI questions

"Another question (AI)" is off by default. When it's on, questions are generated on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence and are never sent to us.

Exported files

JSON, CSV, .ics and PDF exports are created on your iPhone. You decide where they go; we never receive them.

Purchases, Family Sharing and information from Apple

Tomoni is a paid app. Purchases, refunds and Family Sharing are handled by Apple; we never receive your payment details or Apple Account information. Apple gives developers anonymous, aggregated statistics (such as download counts), and if you've turned on “Share with App Developers” on your device, Apple may also share crash logs that don't identify you. Apple handles this information under its own privacy policy.

Deleting your data

In the app you can delete dates and memories (deleted memories stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, then are removed for good), permanently delete a private archive, or leave a space and choose to remove it from this iPhone. Deleting the app removes its data from this iPhone. To delete data from iCloud, open the iOS Settings app and go to Apple Account › iCloud › Manage Storage › Tomoni. Shared spaces live in the creator's iCloud, so the creator stops sharing or deletes them.

Children's privacy

We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we'll also mention it in the app's release notes.
